“Seated Near to Thee”
Srimati Karuna, Minister
Sunday Bulletin
Seated in meditation or sitting near the one who guides the mind in the direction of Eternal Truth, we come to recognize the powerful message of the Upanishads. The two parts of the Sanskrit word: “Upa” - near to and “Nishad” - seated, not only reflects a physical proximity to the teacher but that which inspires the yogi to be nearer to the Self.
“According to the Upanishads, realization of God, Brahma-Vidya, and realization of one’s own true self, Atma-Vidya, together constitute the initial requirement of an enlightened life. But to attain the realization of God, which is the ultimate goal, realization of the self is the categorical prerequisite, because, in the realization of the self, identity with God is realized. Thus, self-realization reveals God, Consciousness-Existence-Bliss Absolute.”
